Original German WWII Headquarters Pressed or Embossed Cardboard Wall Eagle

Item Description

Original Item. Only One Available. This is a very interesting example of a German wall eagle manufactured of pressed or embossed cardboard. This example is in fair but rough condition with cracks and splits at the ends of both wings. It measures 21 ¼" x 11 ⅞”.

The wall eagle is attached to a cardboard backing which has a faint maker’s mark within a stamped circle. The first word appears to be CRESCOM but the rest is heavily faded. With enough time this maker could be identified. There is heavy cracking and damage across the eagle as shown, primarily the connection of the left wing to the body, and at the tips of both wings. The black paint of the insignia is partially cracking and reveals an almost purple color underneath.

This is the first example of this material we have come across and is very likely a late war example, either 1944 or 1945. This is a great piece that will fit well into any WWII collection. This would do well with some proper framing. Any examples of these wall eagles are incredibly scarce, so don’t miss out.
