Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very attractive German WWII Gold HJ Honor Badge, or Goldenes HJ-Ehrenzeichen, featuring gilt metal construction with red, white, and black enamel. The badge displays the familiar diamond-shaped HJ design, with translucent red pebbled enamel panels, white enamel panels, and a central black enameled swas. The broad gilt border distinguishes the Gold Honor Badge from the more commonly encountered standard HJ membership badge.

RZM code M1/52 is attributed to Deschler & Sohn of München, a well-known producer of German political and organizational insignia.

The Gold HJ Honor Badge was introduced in 1934 as a distinction for the early membership of the NSDAP youth movement. Eligibility was principally connected with membership in the HJ or associated youth organizations before the October 2, 1932 Reich Youth Day at Potsdam, with the badge effectively recognizing members of the movement's early "Old Guard." Award pieces were individually numbered, with the corresponding number also recorded on the recipient's authorization card. Later replacement examples are known with an additional "B" marking. This example is numbered 65645 without a "B" suffix, consistent with an award issue rather than one of the designated replacement pieces.

Condition is quite attractive for an original enameled badge of this age. The red, white, and black enamel remains bright and well defined, including the characteristic textured pattern visible beneath the translucent red enamel. The gilt border retains a pleasing warm finish with light age and handling wear, along with a small area of darker discoloration visible along one edge. The reverse exhibits honest age toning, scattered surface marks, and some areas of greenish oxidation around the fittings and edges. The pin and catch assembly remain present.
