Original German WWII Gebirgsjäger Aluminum Slit Mountain Troop Snow Goggles

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a fine example of the very recognizable goggles issued to the famed German WWii Skiing and Mountain Units. This set of Gebirgsjäger (Mountain Troops) snow goggles is one of several patterns employed, designed to protect the wearers eyes from Snow Blindness, as well as the wind. "Slit" style snow blindness protection had been around for quite some time, however the aluminum body allows for more precise and advanced slit patterns, which allows maximum protection with minimal visual obstruction.
The goggles still retain their velvet-like padding around the edges, as well as the original elastic securing straps with buckles. Unfortunately over the years the rubber portion of the elastic has deteriorated, so the straps are no longer stretchy at all.
