The NSDAP, or Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (National Socialist German Worker’s Party), was originally founded in Munich as the DAP, or Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (German Worker’s Party), on January 5 1919. When Adolf joined the DAP in the autumn of 1919 he was to reform what was basically a debating society into an active political party. Appointed as the first chairman of the party on July 29TH 1921 he was to restructure it along para-military lines in a hierarchy of four levels of government.

During the next decade, the NSDAP gradually grew in power, and on January 30, 1933 Reichspräsident Paul von Hindenburg appointed Adolf H as Reichskanzler (Chancellor of Germany), after which he quickly consolidated power to become a true dictator.

Here we have a very nice 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" "Half Letter" piece of Der Führer Adolf's personal stationery from his Berlin office. We had originally assumed this would be DIN 476 pattern A5 size (148 mm × 210 mm or 5.8 in × 8.3 in), but it is definitely almost exactly half letter. This would have been used for shorter letters, and .there appear to have been versions made for his various offices. All have the same golden Reichsadler eagle in the upper left corner, over the name ADOLF H***ER, and to the right is the location, which in this case is BERLIN. We have compared the style of font and design with other period example we have seen, and it is an exact match.

Condition is very good, considering the age, though as expected it shows yellowing / foxing towards the upper and right edge, so it looks like those sides were not as well protected as the rest. The upper right corner is torn away, and there is some light tearing along on the top as well, as shown in the pictures.
