Original Item: Only One Available. This is a great example of the hard to find German WWII Fire Brigade Cross, in 2nd class, complete with the original ribbon and leatherette presentation case. Also called the "Fire Brigade Badge of Honor", among other names, these were awarded for service during firefighting during the NSDAP period. 

Condition of the badge is very good, with the enamel on front in very good condition, especially on the arms of the cross. The raised central swas (hook cross) emblem shows more wear, as one might expected due to being raised above the arms. The cross definitely looks to have been worn, showing some minor denting on the corners, and the silver wash has tarnished to a lovely gray color. The hanger ring on the top is present, showing some wear, and the original ribbon is present as well, looking to at one point have been threaded through the ring.

The case is in very good shape, measuring approximately 60mm wide by 70mm high, and features a fully functional hinge and front catch. The black leatherette covering is well retained, showing some minor flaking at the corners.

German WWII Fire Brigade Cross
Officially termed the Feuerlöschwesen Verdienstkreuz (Fire Extinguishing Cross of Merit), these were awarded for service in the Feuerschutzpolizei (Fire Protection Police) during the WWII Era. The design has a cross showing flames around a central Swas (hook cross), with an outer circle reading FÜR VERDIENST IM FEUERLÖSCHWESEN. As with many German Medals, it was awarded in two classes, with the 2nd class hanging on a ribbon, while the first class attaches directly to the uniform.
