Original Item. Only One Available. This is a very nice "field made" German WWII Feldmütze (field cap), made using "captured" Italian M29 camo material. This allowed a much better camouflage profile than the standard tan or field gray color. Combined with the comfort of a field cap, they were relatively popular, and many were made in field workshops, so they were produced in countless styles.
The interior has no lining or sweatband, but definitely shows a high level of manufacture, so it was at least field workshop made. It has the standard two vents on each side as seen with German field caps, though there is no scallop around the edge due to the simplified style. Adding the scallop flap would also break up the camouflage design. The cap has held up very well over the years, except for the front visor, which shows extensive water staining. Most likely the cardboard inside was pigmented, and when it got wet, that color bled to the exterior. The visor stiffener is also quite wrinkled and distorted from water exposure. The cap is roughly a size 57-58cm.
