Original Item. Only One Available. This is a very nice example of the standard membership armband worn by the HJ, the youth organization of the NSDAP. Constructed from red cotton, it features the characteristic broad white horizontal stripe with a separately applied white diamond at center, upon which the black swas. emblem has been sewn. The entire armband is of multi-piece construction rather than being simply printed, and it has been stitched closed into a continuous band for wear on the upper left sleeve.

The construction is particularly attractive and easy to examine in this example. The white central stripe is machine stitched to the red body, while the large white diamond is separately applied over it. The black emblem is likewise formed from sewn cloth, giving the central device the raised, dimensional appearance associated with regulation-style multi-piece HJ armbands. The interior retains the original vertical joining seam, and the reverse stitching remains clearly visible, providing an excellent view of how the armband was assembled.

Condition is very good overall. The red cotton remains bright, with light fading and handling wear. The white elements show mild age toning and scattered soiling, while the black emblem is complete and well defined. Minor edge wear and fraying are present, but the stitching remains largely intact.

HJ uniforms were closely regulated and designed to present a standardized organizational appearance, with the red-and-white armband serving as one of the most visible identifiers of membership. Worn on the upper left sleeve, it accompanied the familiar brown shirt and other prescribed uniform insignia and made HJ affiliation immediately recognizable.

The organization itself expanded rapidly after the NSDAP came to power in 1933 as competing German youth organizations were dissolved, absorbed, or prohibited. The HJ Law of December 1, 1936 formally placed German youth under the HJ system, and a March 1939 implementing regulation made service compulsory for eligible German boys and girls, generally between the ages of 10 and 18. Boys typically progressed from the Deutsches Jungvolk into the HJ, while girls entered the Jungmädelbund and later the Bund Deutscher Mädel. By the outbreak of WWII, the uniform and its armband had therefore become familiar symbols of the regime's highly organized system of youth indoctrination, physical training, and preparation for adult roles within NSDAP Germany.
