Original Item. Only One Available. This is a very nice well-used Pre-WWII Die Deutsche Wehrmacht (The German Armed Forces) softcover "cigarette card" album collectors book. It is 64 pages long, and has locations for 270 cigarette card pictures to be mounted to the pages, but only about 245 or so are present. Dating from 1936, these books were originally purchased empty and customers would get a photograph with every purchase of a pack of cigarettes. These served the dual purpose of helping to stiffen the packaging, as well as being collectible items. The missing photo card locations are scattered throughout the pages, and some show glue residue, while others look to have never been installed.
The photos are fully colored and detailed making the finished product, very impressive, especially with the raised and embossed flak gun image on the front cover. The pages contain large amounts of information regarding the German Armed forces of the early NSDAP period, with color plates showing insignia, pages of text, and the pages filled with the cards and descriptive captions.
The cover shows wear and minor damage to the lower right corner, but no tearing or major issues. All of the pages look to still be present, however most are cracked / torn through close to the binding. One will encounter these books on the market, but often missing more than half of the photos. This example is almost complete, and the owner must have definitely smoked quite a lot. The book measures roughly 10 ½" x 13” and comes ready for further research and display.
