This is a rare Deutschland erwacht: Werden, Kampf und Sieg der NSDAP (Germany Awakes: The formation, battle and victory of the NSDAP) hardcover "cigarette card" album. These were a companion to the NSDAP produced "documentary" propaganda film, Deutschland erwacht – Ein Dokument von der Wiedergeburt Deutschlands (Germany Awakes - A documentary of the Rebirth of Germany). This example is edition 101-200. Tausend (101-200 Thousand), so it was printed in the early 1930s by Cigaretten=Bilderdienst (Cigarette Picture Service) of Altona-Bahrenfeld.

Very early editions of this still retained pictures of Ernst Röhm, before he was executed during the "Night of the Long Knives". This example is in the correct edition range for having Röhm pictures, and on page 52 we can see the label for the card is Stabschef Röhm, however the picture shown is his replacement Viktor Lutze. There also would have been pictures of Röhm in the section of the book about the SA, pages 128-131, and on page 130 the center picture caption is Stabschef Röhm mit den Gruppenführern der SA, however the picture just shows SA members, with no Röhm present. This book must have  been filled / made during the transitional period, so the pictures are from the post Röhm book, but the book itself was made prior to his execution.

It is approximately 150 pages long, hardcover, and features a huge number of glued in pictures, as well as some very impressive portraits of the top level NSDAP leadership. It even still has the MASSIVE foldout picture of the 1933 NSDAP rally in Nürnberg, which is 12 inches wide and over 4 FEET long! It measures approximately 9 1/2"W x 12 1/2"H x 1", and is offered in very good condition. This is one of many collectible books released after the NSDAP rise to power in 1933, and is both a collector's book as well as a history book. It does look to have seen moisture exposure over a long period, which has resulted in overall rippling, as well as causing many of the cards to become partly detached from the pages. This does however allow the text on the back to be read.
