Original Item: Only One Available. This is an original German WWII Deutsches Jungvolk shooting award badge manufactured by Deschler & Sohn of München and marked RZM M1/52 on the reverse. Measuring approximately 24mm in diameter, it is a die struck brass alloy badge with multicolored enamel and a functional safety pin style attachment.

The Deutsches Jungvolk, or DJ, was the junior boys’ section of the HJ organization and generally included members from approximately 10 to 14 years of age. Shooting proficiency and other paramilitary skills formed part of the organization’s training program.

The badge has a black enameled field with silver colored concentric target rings. A pair of crossed rifles appears at the center beneath the DJ emblem, consisting of a white single Siegrune. The white letters D and J are positioned to either side of the rifles.

The RZM M1/52 code identifies Deschler & Sohn of München (Munich) as the licensed manufacturer.

The badge remains in very good condition and shows only light oxidation. The plated finish is still substantially retained on both the obverse and reverse.

The enamel remains especially well preserved, with no visible cracking or chipping. The crossed rifle devices are straight and show no notable bending or damage.

The reverse retains its original safety pin style attachment, which remains functional.

With its clearly marked Deschler & Sohn reverse, well-preserved enamel, intact crossed rifles, strong plated finish, and functional pin assembly, this is an attractive example of a DJ shooting proficiency badge. The light oxidation and age related surface wear are fully disclosed. It would display particularly well in a German youth organization, DJ insignia, shooting award, RZM marked badge, Deschler & Sohn, or advanced WWII political collection.

Of Note: In late 1934 items manufactured for the NSDAP and other organizations, including membership pins, came under the quality control of the RZM, Reichzeugmeisterei, (National Equipment Quartermaster) and as a result were marked with the RZM logo when appropriate. The registry was was based at the Brown house in Munich and NSDAP party headquarters in Berlin. The RZM ensured that the manufacturers of military items were consistent in design, quality of materials and other characteristics of the items. It also defined standards of design, manufacturing and quality and published an authoritative color chart for textiles. The M1 in the code stands for Metal Badges, with Deschler & Sohn of München being contractor number 52.
