Original German WWII Cigarette Case with 1939 Armed Forces Day Hirschberg Insignia & Cigarettes - WaA195 Marked

Item Description

Original Item: One of a Kind. This was just acquired from a collector at a large military collection. This is a very nice German WWII Cigarette case, made from what looks to be aluminum, which is fully gold washed on the interior. There is a very nice badge or tinnie installed on the top, which reads:

1939
 --TAG --

DER WEHRMACHT
HIRSCHBERG

During the NSDAP period, there were many rallies and gatherings meant to increase the sense of national unity, and Tag der Wehrmcht ("Armed Forces Day") was one of these. they were held yearly at various cities throughout Germany. There are two Hirschberg localities in Germany, so we are not sure which exact one this refers to.

The case itself measures approximately 4" x 3 1/8" x 5/8", and the latch and hinge are fully functional. There are two retaining straps in place, holding the 11 CAMEL brand cigarettes in place, though the straps are almost certainly post war. The interior of the case is marked with a German Waffenampt WaA195 inspection stamp, as well as GES. GESCH., indicating that it was a trademarked design.

A wonderful piece of German WWII Militaria!
