Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice condition original German WWII Balkenkreuz (Beam Cross) identification flag used for Panzer tanks and other vehicles. It is in lightly used condition and measures approximately 36" x 71" inches. Flag is constructed of cotton and has four brass plated steel grommets (one in each corner), which were used to secure the flag to the back of the vehicle, facing the sky in order to prevent friendly fire from German aircraft. The flag is a multi-piece construction with a Balkenkreuz (beam cross) dyed onto a white background stitched onto the red base.

Condition is very good, and unlike most, it actually shows some real wear from service! There are a few small tears as well as wear around the edge, consistent with being attached to a vehicle. There are also a few light stains in the red area, which is for the most part still vibrant, with overall age toning to the white circle. The larger size would suggest a larger vehicle. Ready to display!
