Original Items: Only One Set Available. This is a very nice collection of German WWII Awards and Insignia, which was brought back from the European theater by a USGI after the war was concluded. Many solders traded these on the way back, and would end up with a pocket full of various different collectible items, and this set represents the typical "haul" one might have come back with. It includes nice variety of items, including several awards and belt buckle, as well as some things that we have rarely seen before!
This lovely set includes:
- One German WWII Civil Service Faithful Service Medal 2nd Class with ribbon and original case. The second class award for 25 years of service was a silver cross, with a silver wreath and a black enameled swas in the center of the cross. The medal still looks great, showing just a bit of patination, and the ribbon is in great shape, with a nice installed attachment pin. The included case has the correct 25 inside a “pointed circle”, and is in very good condition, maker marked on the inside lid by WÄCHTLER & LANGE / MITTWEIDA i.SA., for Rudolf Wächtler & Lange of Mittweida, Saxony.
- One German WWII NSDAP Leader Aluminum Belt Buckle by Friedrich Linden. This Leibriemenschloß für Politische Leiter (Belt Buckle for Political Leader) correctly marked with an RZM circle and with the code M4 / 24. The registrant for this number is Friedrich Linden of Lüdenscheid, a German city which had a large number of companies who made buckles, buttons, and other clothing items. The buckle is intact, but shows loss of finish from wear and also the box loop and claw are somewhat deformed.
- One Small 2 3/4" wide round side profile porcelain bust of what looks to be Reichsmarschall Hermann Göring.
- One German WWII Heer Army Panzer EM/NCO BeVO Embroidered Breast Eagle. It has the correct white and black embroidery on a black background, and still has the full fabric surround, so it was never cut down and installed on a uniform.
- One German Pre-WWII Soldatenbund Cap Eagle Insignia. The Soldatenbund (Registered Soldier’s League) was an early Veteran's association founded in 1936, which proved to be very short lived. The insignia features a Reichsadler National Eagle surmounted by crossed swords and an Iron Cross. All three brass prongs are intact.
- One German WWII Four Award Medal Ribbon Bar, Service used. It is missing the pin on the back, and the felt backing has suffered moth damage. The award ribbons on it are for the Iron Cross 2nd Class 1939, the Eastern Medal, the Wehrmacht Long Service Award (4 years), and the Western Wall Medal.
- One German WWII DRK German Red Cross Honor Badge Pin.
- One German Pre Reichstag-Wahl 1932 Voting Donation Medal.
- One German WWII NSDAP Membership pin, oxidized.
- One Ribbon for a German WWII Eastern Medal, unissued.
- One German WWII Era Adler Automobile Pin insignia.
A wonderful totally genuine grouping perfect for the German collector. Ready to research and display!
"Tinnies" (Veranstaltungsabzeichen - Event Badge) are small commemorative pins or medals, acquired when one attended a specific event held in Germany. They were often made of thin stamped metal, bakelite, or even pressed paper. Many of these were given out as part of the WHW (Winterhilfswerk - Winter Help Work) Organization, which often involved Germans traveling quite a bit to help out the war effort.
