  • Original Items: Only One Set Available. This is a very nice collection of German WWII Awards and Insignia, which was brought back from the European theater by a USGI after the war was concluded. Many solders traded these on the way back, and would end up with a pocket full of various different collectible items, and this set represents the typical "haul" one might have come back with. It includes nice variety of items, as well as some things that we have rarely seen before!

    This lovely set includes:

    - One German WWII Western Wall / Siegfried Line Metal with Ribbon, Ribbon Pin, and packing in Original Packet. The brass medal is still in great shape, showing only light wear, and the ribbon has a great lightly aged look, not looking to have been installed on the medal at any point. It comes with a ribbon pin for a medal bar, which shows staining and use, and it is contained in original brown paper packet with the original packing. This is the full set! The back of the packet is marked by maker Werner Redo Saarlautern.

    - One German WWII 1 October 1938 Commemorative Sudetenland Medal with Ribbon. The original bronze wash on the medal is in great shape, and the ribbon shows staining and wear from service.

    - One German WWII Eastern People's Medal 2nd Class with Swords (Ostvolkmedaille II. Klasse mit Schwertern) in silver, with the correct green ribbon with white stripes. This is the version with swords, for merit in areas related to combat. The ribbon has a lovely attached pin for attaching to a uniform.

    - One German WWII Heer Army EM/NCO BeVO Embroidered Breast Eagle. It has the correct later pattern gray and green embroidery on a green background, and is a uniform cutoff example, with the background folded under and stitching from the original installation still present.

    - One German WWII Heer Army Bevo Embroidered Field Cap Eagle Insignia. It is the early 1935 pattern with a dark bottle green background and white eagle, and was never installed on a uniform.

    - One German WWII Heer Army Sports Shirt Eagle Insignia for M35 Sport Shirt. It has the correct black BeVo embroidered Wehrmachtadler insignia on a white background, which shows light age toning and a bit of staining from age and storage. It measures 11"W x 5 1/4", and has not been installed on a shirt at any time.

    - One German WWII Heer Army Infantry Radioman Sleeve Badge (Ärmelabzeichen), a white lightning bolt on a green background. The color of the lightning bolt indicates the branch of the army (white = infantry).

    - One German WWII Heer Army Aluminum Visor cap Wehrmachtadler Emblem, missing the attachment prongs. It is marked R.H. 1938 on the reverse.

    A wonderful totally genuine grouping perfect for the German collector. Ready to research and display!

    More information on some of the Items in this grouping:

    The West Wall Medal (Deutsches Schutzwall-Ehrenzeichen) was a decoration of NSDAP Germany. It was instituted on 2 August 1939 and was given to those who designed and built the fortifications on Germany's western borders, known as the Westwall or, in English, the Siegfried Line, between 15 June 1938 to 31 March 1939. On 13 November 1939 eligibility was extended to include servicemen of the Wehrmacht who served on the Westwall for at least ten weeks. In all 622,064 medals were awarded until 31 January 1941, when awards of the medal ceased. This early version was made of solid bronze. The back has the statement FÜR ARBEIT ZUM SCHUTZE DEUTSCHLANDS - "For Work to Protect Germany."

    The 1 October 1938 Commemorative Medal (Die Medaille zur Erinnerung an den 1. Oktober 1938), commonly known as the Sudetenland Medal or Czech Conquest Medal, was a decoration of NSDAP Germany awarded in the interwar period. Instituted on 18 October 1938, the medal was awarded to German military personnel who participated in the occupation of Sudetenland and the occupation of Czechoslovakia in March 1939. The medal was awarded to all German (and as well Sudeten) State officials and members of the German Wehrmacht and SS who marched into Sudetenland. Later it was awarded to military personnel participating in the occupation of the remnants of Czechoslovakia on 15 March 1939. It was awarded until 31 December 1940. In all 1,162,617 medals and 134,563 bars were awarded.

    The medal was similar in appearance as the Anschluss Medal, the reverse only differed in the date. It was designed by Professor Richard Klein. It is round and of the obverse there is a man standing of a podium with the Third Reich coat of arms and holding the NSDAP flag, he holding the hand and helping him get on the podium of another man who had a broken shackle on his right hand, this symbolize the joining to the Reich of Austria. On the reverse side is the inscription "1. Oktober 1938" (1 October 1938). The date is surrounded with the words "Ein Volk, Ein Reich, Ein Führer" (One People, One Empire, One Leader).

    The medal was dye-struck and high in detail, with a bronze finish. The medal was suspended from a black ribbon with a red stripe in the middle, these being the colors of the Sudetenland.

    German WWII Eastern People's Medal:
    Officially termed the "Medal for Gallantry and Merit for Members of the Eastern Peoples" (Tapferkeits und Verdienstauszeichnung für Ostvölker). This was a military and paramilitary award of Germany. Established on 14 July 1942, it was bestowed on personnel from the former Soviet Union (Ostvolk or "Eastern people"), who volunteered to fight alongside German forces. The Medal is sometimes called the Ostvolk Medal or Eastern People's Medal, (Ostvolkmedaille).

    The Ostvolk medal features an octagonal (eight pointed) star with a plant pattern in the center. There were two classes:

    1st class - 50 mm in diameter, attached to the left uniform pocket by a pin and clasp. It could be awarded in gold or silver.

    2nd class - 40 mm in diameter worn on a 32 mm wide ribbon from the left chest. It could be awarded in gold, silver or bronze, each having a separate ribbon design:
    - gold: green with a red stripe towards each edge;
    - silver: green with a white stripe towards each edge;
    - bronze: plain green.
