Original Rare German WWII Army Heer Double Decal Miniature "Wedding" or "Honeymoon" Helmet

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. Well this is definitely an interesting piece of German WWII military history! Here we have a very nice miniature Heer Army "Double Decal" helmet, known as a "Wedding Helmet" or "Honeymoon Helmet". During WWII the needs of war meant that soldiers could be called to the front at any time, and a wedding was no excuse for avoiding that.

These miniature helmets allowed the ceremony to go on, using the helmet as a substitute for the soldier while they were present at the front. During the ceremony, the bride would place her hand on the helmet and take the marriage vows in the soldiers absence. This method was approved by the NSDAP government as binding and official, and was a way to avoid disruptions, as so many young men were at the front fighting during the war. Definitely a unique solution to a problem faced world wide.

The miniature helmet itself measures about 3 3/4" long by 3" wide, and looks to be made of cast metal, probably aluminum or zinc alloy. It has a silver paint job, and features the standard Heer Army double decals of a National Tri-Color shield on the right, and a silver Wehrmacht eagle on the left. The paint is well retained, with some flaking on the front brim, and overall makes a very interesting discussion piece.
