  • Original Item. Only One Available. This is an original German WWII NSDAP flag bearing numerous handwritten inscriptions, including the names and hometowns of fourteen American soldiers serving in Company C, 67th Armored Infantry Battalion. The 67th received campaign credits for Rhineland and Central Europe. The flag measures approximately 36" x 30 1/2" [91.4 x 77.5 cm] and is constructed from red fabric with a separately applied white circular roundel bearing a black canted swas emblem. The hoist edge is folded and sewn.

The inscriptions are distributed across the flag, particularly around the central emblem, and were written in dark ink. Several include American names and addresses, suggesting that the flag was signed by U.S. servicemen during or shortly after the war. Among the more legible entries are names appearing to read Arthur K. Robinson, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Kenneth Gibson, with an address on Bedford Street in Carlisle, Pennsylvania; and Edward L. Johnson, of Cottage Grove, Oregon. Another inscription appears to identify Joseph B. Dexter, with a Dayton, Ohio address. Around the edge of the white circle is the German phrase "In Deutchland Alles kaputt," meaning "Everything in Germany is broken.”

We were able to find most of these men in morning reports for Company C, 67th Armored Infantry Battalion in 1945. The flag remains in good overall condition, showing age and handling wear consistent with its apparent period of use. The red field retains strong color, with visible folding and creasing. The white roundel exhibits scattered yellowing, discoloration, and spotting, while the black emblem has areas of surface wear. A small puncture is present near the central design, accompanied by minor wear along the edges and hoist.

This flag is especially significant for the historical information preserved in its fourteen handwritten inscriptions and the corresponding identification of several of the servicemen in the 67th Armored Infantry Battalion's 1945 morning reports. While the exact circumstances of its capture remain unknown, the documented unit connection places the artifact within the broader history of American armored infantry operations in the Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns. The combination of an original German WWII political flag, period American signatures, and identifiable military personnel makes this an excellent example of a wartime souvenir that also serves as a tangible record of the men who signed it.
