Original German WWII Aluminum M31 Canteen with Tropical Canvas Harness & Aluminum Cup by Deutsche Metallwerke in Neustadt an der Weinstraße - Dated 1943

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice original German Deutsches Afrikakorps (DAK) M31 Aluminum tropical canteen (Tropen Feldflasche), complete with its aluminum cap, aluminum cup, canvas carry strap, and genuine wool cover.
The Cup and cap are both marked DMN43 for 1943 manufacture by Deutsche Metallwerke in Neustadt an der Weinstraße. The companies that made the Aluminum components for canteens often did not use three letter codes, so these are actually abbreviations of the makers name, and the date.
The canvas straps are stamped on the endpiece C.A.&S.. There is some tearing and holes in the wool cover as shown. The aluminum cup retains most of its black paint.
The wool cover has the correct early issue 4 snaps, which are marked PRYM on the back. It has the correct tropical canvas loops which hold the carrier, which is made of the same DAK color cotton web.
Overall a very nice chance to pick up a good condition German DAK canteen.
