Original Item: Only One Available. This is an excellent original German WWII 6x30 Dienstglas, or service binocular, manufactured by Carl Zeiss of Jena and accompanied by a period-style Bakelite carrying case. The binoculars retain clear optics, smoothly operating diopter adjustments, both eyecups, and the late-war rln Carl Zeiss maker code together with the distinctive triangle lubricant marking. The original neck strap is missing, while the case retains its rear leather belt straps but is missing its separate carrying strap.

The maker code is for the famous Carl Zeiss, Militärabteilung Jena, who manufactured a multitude of different types of optics for the German Military. Both diopter adjustments operate smoothly, and the eyecups are retained. The optics are in excellent condition and clear. The binoculars are missing their neck strap but are otherwise excellent.
The triangle marking is generally associated with the use of a special instrument lubricant intended to remain serviceable across a broad range of low and high temperatures. Specialist studies of German Dienstglas markings place the triangle lubricant marking in approximately the 1943-1945 period, which fits the late-war rln maker code very well.
The included bakelite case is in good condition, and still has intact leather belt straps, though the carrying strap is gone. The case closure works perfectly, and it measures 7"W x 5 1/2"H x 3 1/2" overall. There is a mold marking on the interior.
Carl Zeiss was one of the most important German optical manufacturers supplying military equipment during the war, and its Jena works produced a wide range of binoculars, telescopic sights, range-finding equipment, and other optical instruments. The rln code on this example places it firmly within Zeiss’s late-war coded production system.
With its Dienstglas 6x30 designation, serial number 113655, late-war rln Carl Zeiss maker code, triangle lubricant marking, clear optics, intact eyecups, and accompanying Bakelite carrying case, this is a particularly strong representative example of one of the standard German field binocular types of WWII.
