Original German WWII 1943 dated Walther P38 Black Hardshell Holster with WWII Marked Magazine
Original Item: Only One Available. Just purchased from a private collector, this is a very nice WWII issue Black Hardshell holster for the standard issue Walther P38 pistol, complete with all the correct period markings. Also included is a correct WWII marked magazine, in very good condition, something we have rarely had before!
The back of the holster is marked P38 on the upper right hand corner, and between the belt loops it is marked gxy 1943 over a Waffenamt WaA706 inspection stamp. This indicates 1943 production by Gebrüder Klinge of Dresden-Löbtau, a known holster producer during the war according to GERMAN MILITARY LETTER CODES 1939-1945 by John Walter.
The holster is complete and fully functional, with a good deal of the original Black finish still present. There is the expected wear from age and service, but it is still quite attractive. All stitching and rivets are intact, and the interior strap to lift the pistol when the holster is opened is still intact as well.
The included magazine is the standard P.38 configuration, with 7 holes on each side. As far as we can tell it is functional, and shows the expected wear to the blued finish from service. The side of the holster is marked P38, and the spine is Waffenamt WaA706 stamped like the holster, and has maker code jvd below this. This indicates manufacture by Erste Nordböhmische Metallwarenfabrik, Adolf Rössler, located in Niedereinsiedel, part of the so-called Sudetenland. This was a known manufacturer of parts and accessories for the P.38 pistol, as well as other small arms such as the StG44. After the war, the German population was expelled, and today the city is Dolní Poustevna in the Czech Republic.
This is a great WWII Dated example of a P.38 holster, fully intact and complete with an original P.38 magazine. This would make the perfect accessory for a P.38 pistol that no longer has its holster or spare magazine. Ready to display!
The Walther Pistole 38 (P.38) pistol was first introduced in 1938 as a replacement for the P.08. The P.38 was a more cost-efficient and more reliable in war conditions such as mud and rain. The P.08 was a typical prewar German gun, over engineered to perfection, with a sensitive toggle breech system that would malfunction when dirt was involved. The P.38 was a workhorse that did just what it was meant to do. It could handle most harsh battlefield conditions and as such the closed hardshell holster was discontinued later in the war and replaced for a partially open softshell holster. During the War close around 900,000 were produced, so the holsters were also produced in large quantities.
A perfect addition to any WW2 Walther P.38 pistol in need of an excellent condition original holster.
