  • Original Item: Only One Available. This is a WWII German Wehrmacht (Heer) Aluminum EM/NCO's Belt Buckle (Koppelschloß) with an original black leather belt, which is originally of Luftwaffe origin, and was paired with the buckle at some point. The buckle is embossed with the Heer motto GOTT MIT UNS ("God (is) with us") around the Wehrmacht Reichsadler (State Eagle). Nice aluminum construction box buckle with a pebbled background. The buckle is in good condition, and is a single piece injection molded and crimped example. It does show some surface wear, common due to the softer aluminum alloy.

This buckle was originally entirely painted standard Heer olive gray, and while this is almost completely gone on the front, the rear still still shows a good amount. There is no maker mark on the back of the buckle, however it still retains the Pre-1941 leather tab, though it is damaged, and the maker information is only partial. However we did recognize the partial name, so we are confident in our transcription:-

    [DRAN]SFELD & Co.
    1936
    [MENDEN/W]

The belt itself measures about 37” from end to end, and is made from thick leather with the standard leather tab with 7 pairs of holes attached to it for size adjustment. The stitches for this are "hidden", so they do not appear on the front, correct for a belt made for the Luftwaffe. Near the end clip is a very faint L.B.A. (S) stamping, indicating it was inspected at the Luftwaffebekleidungsamt (Air Force Clothing Office) in Sonneberg, Germany. There is also a small D.&C. stamp on the end clip, also for Dransfeld & Co.. The leather is a bit stiff but has no cracks or other damage.

This is an appealing mixed branch German WWII belt set, combining a Heer EM/NCO aluminum buckle with a period Luftwaffe leather belt. The buckle retains a good amount of its original olive gray finish on the reverse, along with its damaged but partially legible 1936 dated Dransfeld & Co. leather tab. The belt carries a faint L.B.A. (S) inspection stamp, while its end clip is additionally marked “D.& C.” for Dransfeld & Co. Although we cannot determine when the Heer buckle and Luftwaffe belt were paired, both components are period examples with identifiable wartime markings and present well together. This unusual combination would display particularly well in a German WWII belt buckle, uniform, or field equipment collection.
