This is an extremely rare 1st Edition Kampf um's Dritte Reich: HISTORISCHE BILDERFOLGE (Battle for the Third Reich HISTORICAL PICTURE SERIES) softcover "cigarette card" album. These books were originally purchased empty and customers would get a photograph with every purchase of a pack of cigarettes. These served the dual purpose of helping to stiffen the packaging, as well as being collectible items. It is approximately 92 pages long, softcover, and features over 250 color "cigarette card" pictures, glued to their correct locations on the various pages (a few have become detached but are included). This example is edition 801-900. Tauſend (801-900 Thousand), so it was printed in the early 1930s by Cigaretten=Bilderdienst (Cigarette Picture Service) of Altona=Bahrenfeld. It measures approximately 9 1/2"W x 12 1/2"H x 1/2", and is offered in very good condition.

This is one of many collectible books released after the NSDAP rise to power in 1933, and is both a collector's book as well as a history book. It has chapters with AH during World War I, the 1923 AH-Putsch, various NSDAP organizations, the Führer traveling throughout Germany, AH in private, NS meetings and parades, their victory on Jan. 30th, 1933, etc. Other sections praise Hermann Göring, Joseph Goebbels, Ernst Röhm, and a multitude of other early NSDAP leaders.

It is important to note that approximately a year after this publication, AH had Röhm and many SA leaders and members murdered in the infamous "Night of the long knives." AH forbade for Röhm to be mentioned or pictured in any National Socialist literature. For this reason, NSDAP propaganda works with the SA Führer in them are relatively scarce. The information on Röhm is on page 54 of the book, and he is pictured on on a cigarette card on page 27, as well as in a plate following page 56 along with the NSDAP leadership.

Condition is very good, showing the expected wear from age and use. It also shows some rippling of the pages, so it was probably exposed to moisture at some point, though we do not see any major stains. A great piece of WWII early NSDAP memorabilia, which was not later defaced or altered to remove Ernst Röhm.
