Item Description
Original Items: Only One Set Available. This is a very nice collection of German WWII Tinnie Event Badges, which was brought back from the European theater by a USGI after the war was concluded. Many solders traded these on the way back, and would end up with a pocket full of various examples, and this set represents the typical "haul" one might have come back with.
This set contains ten tinnies, some of which we have been able to identify:
- 1939 REICHSPARTEITAG - Reichs Party Congress - Nuremberg Rally 1939
- 1 MAI 1936 - May Day / Labor Day 1936
- 1 MAI 1938 - May Day / Labor Day 1938
- 1 MAI 1939 - May Day / Labor Day 1939
- TAG DER ARBEIT 1934 - Labor Day 1934
- TAG DER ARBEIT 1935 - Labor Day 1935
- DEUTSCH IST DIE SAAR 1934 - Celebrating the vote in the Saar region to return to Germany
- 1934 KINDER AUFS LAND - (Children in the country). This was an organization in that was designed to get children out of the cities to experience life in rural areas.
The two remaining tinnies we were not able to identify. They are made from various materials including plastic and aluminum, and many are maker marked on the back.
A great set of German WWII memorabilia, ready to add to your collection!
"Tinnies" (Veranstaltungsabzeichen - Event Badges) are small commemorative pins or medals, acquired when one attended a specific event held in Germany. They were often made of thin stamped metal, bakelite, or even pressed paper. Many of these were given out as part of the WHW (Winterhilfswerk - Winter Help Work) Organization, which often involved Germans traveling quite a bit to help out the war effort.
