Item Description
Original Items: Only One Lot of 10 Available. This is a wonderful lot of items which were more than likely brought home by American soldiers at the end of both World Wars. They are in lovely condition and are perfect for the young collector who is looking to add a variety of medals and insignia to bolster their collections!
The Following Items Are Included:
World War I Era Items:
- Imperial German WWI Prussian Iron Cross Second Class 1914: The basic design of the WWI crosses is a central cross patee struck from iron and mounted in a silver frame which has a raised crenulated decorative border. The obverse of the cross bears the date 1914 under a crowned W monogram. The reverse bears an oak leaf cluster in the center, with the date of the decoration’s institution 1813 underneath, and the crowned FW initials of Frederick William on the top arm above the oak leaf cluster. Suspension for second-class (EK II) types is by means of a ring, and frequently this ring bears a maker's stamp. There is a mark on the ring, but we cannot tell if it is just a scratch, or a maker marking. The ribbon is in unissued condition.
- German WWI Honor Cross of the World War 1914/1918 (Hindenburg Cross) Medallion Pendant: The patriotic medal features Crossed Swords and appears to be a patriotic necklace item.
- Kyffhäuserbund DRKB Member Armband Insignia: A pre-1935 pattern machine woven NS-RKB emblem. The emblem depicts the black silhouette of the Kyffhäuser monument, on a white background, above the national tri-colors of black-white-red in vertical bars.
World War II Items:
- DRKB Officer’s Armband Insignia: Shield shaped Kyffhäuserbund emblem features a black silhouette of the Kyffhäuser monument on a white background field above a red base with small white circular field and black mobile swas.
- DRL Cloth Bronze Sports Badge: A cloth version of the 1937 pattern bronze award. Upon a black rayon base is machine woven, in bronze-colored threads, vertical oval oak leaf wreath, with a mobile swas and bow to its base, encompassing the stylized, cut-out letters, "DRL."
- M44 Pattern Reichsbahn Sleeve Eagle: Later war, M44 style production/pattern, machine woven, left-facing national breast arm eagle with outstretched wings, clutching a wreathed, canted, swas in its talons in pale, bright yellow/gold, rayon threads on a woven, inverted, triangular, blue/black rayon, base.
- Black Wound Badge: 1939 pattern, die stamped, magnetic sheet metal construction, hollow backed badge with a black wash. The badge is in the form of an embossed, vertically oval, laurel leaf wreath encompassing an embossed profile of an M35 pattern helmet with a high relief, canted, swas to the center, superimposed over crossed swords on a pebbled base field. The reverse of the badge is a mirror image of the obverse and has a crimped, soldered hinge, a thin, round, vertical pin and catch all intact.
- Infantry Assault Badge in Silver: Die struck alloy award with a silver wash. The nicely detailed badge features an embossed, vertically oval, oak-leaf wreath with a Wehrmacht style eagle with down-swept wings, superimposed to the top center, encompassing a cut-out rifle with fixed bayonet and sling. Unfortunately the award is damaged and cracked as well as missing the pin catch.
- Adolf H WHW Donation Badge: The tinnie features the profile of Adolf H surrounded by a wreath. Silver finish is intact, horizontal pin functions perfectly. Well-marked on reverse.
