Original Item: Only One Available. This is an outstanding example of the rare Carter Type EB42 German Ersatz bayonet with the same “Butcher Blade” style as seen with the 98/05. The classic work by J.ANTHONY CARTER, GERMAN BAYONETS, VOLUME THREE published in 1992 is the complete work covering all types of WWI Ersatz bayonets and cherished by bayonet collectors everywhere.
This example retains its original 14” length, with most of these having been cut down by the Ottomans. Anthony Carter's Reference EB42 appearing on Pages 103-104 is the model we offer here. Heavy Stamped steel two-piece ribbed hilt with split muzzle ring, with a 14 inch "butcher" style fullered blade, which bears imperial proofs on the spine. This example is stamped 1784 on the ricasso. Comes complete with a correct all steel "butcher" scabbard, with an intact frog button.
J. Anthony Carter died in 2001 but his four volume work is acknowledged as the supreme reference work on the subject most especially the Ersatz Volume (No.3) which was his great passion throughout his lifetime.
