Original Item: Only One Available. Authentic genuine German WWI 1914 leather Pickelhaulbe spiked helmet offered in untouched condition.
It was found in a barn and is subsequently missing the liner and chinstrap as well as the cockades. Actually found in a New Jersey barn where it had sat undisturbed for nearly 100 years!
Age has dried, hardened and shrunk the leather so it better fit's one knee today than a head. The leather however is tough and overall quite and the steel mounts, spike and helmet plate still show much of their original grey finish.
Although not a terribly high value item one can only imagine the delight and surprise some farmer had in this recent discovery. This is the real thing that was brought home as a war souvenir by an American soldier at the end of the Great War, forgotten, lost and found again!
