  • Original Item. Only One Available. This is an outstanding WWI era ceramic statue of a German Hussar made in the same style as a bronze statue we’ve listed made by Hermann Noack of Friedenau. The company was founded by Hermann Noack in 1897, with early support from the sculptors August Gaul and Fritz Klimsch. Noack was born in Oberlausitz and educated in Lauchhammer. He learned his craft at the Gladenbeck foundry before setting up his own business. He had worked on the National Kaiser Wilhelm Monument by Reinhold Begas. This may have been made by the same company, or their design was used by a different company.

The ceramic depicts a German Hussar, more than likely from the Napoleonic period. He holds a long cavalry saber in his left hand and holds his chin while pondering with his right hand.

    The statue measures 11” tall and sits upon a 3 ½ x 3 ¾” base.

The detailing is rather fantastic, and this is one of the most iconic depictions of a German Hussar we have seen.
