Item Description
Original Item: One-of-a-kind. This is a very nice genuine medal bar, owned by a German soldier who fought during WWI, from the Kingdom of Bavaria. This bar only has medals from the World War I period, and does not have the additional medals issued during the Weimar period, a scarce thing to see. The condition overall is good, though there is fading of the ribbons and oxidation to the awards, so this was probably on display.
The set of 3 medals offered in good condition is mounted on a metal backing board with a long attachment pin, and consists of the following:
- Imperial German WWI Iron Cross 1914 2nd Class Medal (Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse, or EKII)
- Bavarian Merenti Cross of Military Merit with Crown, 3rd Class, 1913 version with Military Ribbon
- German Emperor (1797-1897) Jubilee Medal with incorrect ribbon.
- Bavarian 9-Year Service Medal
The medals are all in rough tarnished condition, and the ribbon bar has heavy staining as shown. It still retains the original bar to hang the medals on your chest.
A very nice example, ready for further research and display.
