  • Original Item: One-of-a-kind. A very well made officer cane constructed on leather washers over a steel core with white metal silvered top mount. The large top mount completely embossed with military cyphers including skull and cross bones with the top engraved:

    RESERVE HAT RUH!

    (Rest for the Reservist)

Interesting inlay in top mount of an orange epaulette bearing a yellow "10" for 10th Grenadiers King Frederick William II.

The shaft of the can made up of multiple leather washers over we suspect a steel rod making the cane very lethal as a club using the heavy top mount as the business end. The ferule on the bottom is a spent cartridge case. The leather shaft has inked inscriptions, now rather hard to decipher but are probably names of places and battle honors. Not sure if this dates from a Veteran of the Franco Prussian war prior to WW1 or in fact a veteran of the Great War of 1914 to 1918. Most interesting and a perfect candidate for deeper research.
