Original Item. Only One Available. Jousting is a medieval and renaissance martial game or hastilude between two combatants either on horse or on foot. The joust became an iconic characteristic of the knight in Romantic medievalism. Jousting on horse is based on the military use of the lance by heavy cavalry. It transformed into a specialized sport during the Late Middle Ages, and remained popular with the nobility in England and Wales, Germany and other parts of Europe throughout the whole of the 16th century.
This is a truly phenomenal piece of Victorian & medieval history. This is a Victorian Era (1837-1901) copy of a 15th Century German jousting lance. The lance measures a substantial 107 inches, and is actually rather light for its size, likely being hollow on much of the interior. We doubt it could be used for jousting today, but we would never assuage anyone from bringing back the well-loved tradition.
This is a truly phenomenal display piece that would require a very long wall to properly display. It is the first example of a jousting lance we have ever offered, and may be the last. Comes ready for further research and display!
