Original Item. Only One Available. This is a very interesting pre-WWII German marching soldier statue awarded in 1937 to a battalion obstacle-race champion. The figure depicts a German soldier in marching pose and originally would have carried a rifle, which is now missing. The statue measures approximately 10 ¼ inches tall and is mounted on a marble base measuring approximately 3 ¼ x 5 inches.
The broken statue sits atop a marble base with a plaque reading:

The body is broken at the top of the legs and if lifted by the body the statue will wiggle in several different places. The statue should display fine as long as it is not disturbed. There is some general paint loss to the body as shown, with clear break marks at the tops of the legs.
Despite the damage, this remains an interesting dated German military athletic award from 1937. The plaque directly identifies it as a Battalion Champion prize for Hindernislaufen, while the soldier figure and marble base give it the appearance of a formal unit sports trophy rather than a generic decorative statue. Its condition is unquestionably rough, but the surviving inscription preserves the most important historical information and provides a clear connection to pre-WWII German military physical competition.
