Original Item. Only One Available. This is a scarce original pre-WWII German Hensoldt Wetzlar Ziel-Dialyt 4x rifle scope, serial number 55324, complete with its original leather storage case. The scope appears to be an interwar commercial or sporting optic rather than a purpose-built military sniper scope. Its original mounting system is now largely missing, although shadows from the former mounts remain visible on the scope body and part of one mounting component appears to survive.
The scope was likely made for inter-war sporting, and is stamped on the side of the eyepiece housing:

Hensoldt produced the Ziel-Dialyt family of sporting rifle scopes during the interwar period, and examples were available with several commercial mounting arrangements. Prewar commercial optics by Hensoldt, Zeiss, Ajack, Kahles, and other manufacturers were also sometimes adapted to German military sniper rifles during WWII, but the presence of a period German scope alone does not establish military issue. Collector research discussing this exact serial number, 55324, identifies it as a prewar commercial example with remnants of a civilian-type mounting system.
There are shadows where the original mounts were attached. Sadly, someone cut off the front mounting where it meets the ring on the case. And the rear ring is there with a loop for screw windage but the rest of it that would attach to the receiver base is gone. The optics are still clear and the adjustment knob works, but the reticle looks a bit dented.
The original leather case is in fair condition with heavy wear. The carry strap is gone but there is a hook on the back for hanging from a clip. The securing strap is heavily worn and crazed but still intact.
This example is particularly interesting for its Ziel-Dialyt 4x markings, serial number 55324, surviving clear optics, functional adjustment mechanism, remnants of the original mounting system, and original leather storage case. The missing mounts, damaged reticle, and heavily worn case are all important condition issues, but the scope remains a useful and substantially intact example of a prewar Hensoldt commercial rifle optic.
