This is an original German pre-WWII Heer Army officer open claw buckle belt in the early 60mm width, constructed from black leather and fitted with a large brass alloy open claw buckle. It retains two sliding loops with attached D-rings for a cross or shoulder strap, along with the leather keeper loop near the buckle. The belt is unusually large, adjusting from approximately 41" to 47".

The open claw belt buckle style originated during the Reichswehr period and continued into Third Reich service with minor modifications. For military officers, the finish of the buckle could reflect rank grouping, with silver colored fittings generally associated with Company and Field Grade officers and gold colored fittings with General Grade officers.

This example is made from early pattern approximately 60mm wide black leather, corresponding to the broader officer belt style used before wartime material conservation measures resulted in narrower belts becoming more common.

The belt is fitted with a large brass alloy open claw buckle. Two sliding leather loops are mounted along the belt, each carrying a metal D-ring for attachment of a cross or shoulder strap. The original leather keeper loop remains present adjacent to the buckle.

The belt uses a double row of seven adjustment holes. Measured from the buckle claws to the adjustment holes, it accommodates approximately:

41" at the smallest setting
47" at the largest setting

making this a particularly large sized example intended for a wearer of substantial build.

The leather remains supple and in very good condition, showing only light service use. The black finish has developed some age related wrinkling and light surface wear, but there are no major cracks, breaks, or structural issues noted. The keeper loop and both cross strap loops remain intact and in very good condition.

With its early 60mm width, black leather construction, brass alloy open claw buckle, original keeper, twin cross strap D-ring loops, and unusually large 41" to 47" adjustment range, this is a strong example of a pre-war Heer officer belt. The light wrinkling and age related surface wear are fully disclosed. It would fit especially well in a Heer officer uniform, Reichswehr transitional equipment, early Third Reich leather gear, or advanced German military equipment collection.
