Original Item. Only One Available. This is a very nice early-pattern German SS enlisted man and NCO's nickel-silver type belt buckle (Koppelschloß), representing the earlier style of SS buckle produced before stamped steel became standard during the Second World War.

The obverse features the distinctive early SS design with a spread-winged eagle above a central oak-leaf wreath enclosing the swas.. The device is surrounded by a simulated twisted-rope border, with the SS motto rendered in raised Gothic lettering:

Meine Ehre heißt Treue

This translates as “My Honor is Loyalty,” the organizational motto of the SS.

This example has a very attractive untouched appearance. The nickel-silver surface has developed a patina, ranging from brighter highlights on the raised portions to darker coloration in the recesses. There are scattered marks and areas of oxidation consistent with age and use. The reverse retains its belt catch along with the roller bar and twin adjustment prongs. The components show oxidation, while visible soldering or brazing is present around the attachment point of the catch. No manufacturer or RZM marking are present.

Nickel-silver, known in German collecting terminology as Neusilber or Alpaka, is associated with the earliest production period of this style of SS buckle. References document nickel-silver examples primarily during the first half of the 1930s, before aluminum and ultimately stamped steel became the predominant materials. Numerous manufacturers and unmarked variants are known, making the absence of a maker marking entirely possible on an early buckle.
