Original German Pre-WWII Army Officer Personal Photo Album - 1936 Olympics

Item Description

Original Item: One-of-a-kind. This is an incredible window into the life of an Army officer before he joined the Wehrmacht in pre-WW2 Germany and just after her joined in 1938. The album spans February 1936 to July 1938 where the officer now in uniform holds his young baby.

The album is careful detailed with meticulous wringing in white paint which detail dates and locations. The album begins in February 1936 in Pontresina Switzerland (about 200 km from Germany’s souther border). Pontresina is a ski area and the photos depict activities in the Alps skiing, hiking, mountain inns, snowball fights, and more.

The next chapter is Lingeser Talsperre a lake town in Marienheide Germany. This vacation is camping, lakes, fires, and boating etc.

Next comes the Olympics! Nicely marked in the album XI OLYMPIADE BERLIN 8-16 Aug 1936. Photos show a packed stadium, swimming event for the 1500 meter freestyle, the Olympic flame at night, Olympic diving event, more swimming events, downtown Berlin, Olympic celebrations and more.
