Original German Post-WWII Set of Three Miniature "Salesman's Sample" Edged Weapons - Hirschfänger, Navy Dagger, and Lion’s Head

Item Description

Original Items: Only One Set of Three Available. These are some very nice examples of "Miniature" German Edged weapons, which have been observed from several different makers. Often referred to as "salesman samples", there is definitely debate over the purpose of these miniature daggers, which are quite useful as letter openers as well. They are constructed much as the full size daggers, but the idea of a miniature dagger to be used as a sample by sales staff seems somewhat suspect, as the real thing isn't excessively large.

The edged weapons in this set look to be late war or from the immediate post war period, meant to capitalize on the large souvenir trade during the occupation. All manner of items were made during this time, many using parts that were left over from WWII.

This lovely set consists of the following items:-

- One Miniature Pre-to-Post War Hirschfänger Stag Handle Triple Etched Hunting Short Sword with lovely etchings. 7¾” in overall length.

- One Miniature German Navy style dagger with eagle head pommel, plating is heavily chipping on blade. 7⅝” in overall length.

- One Miniature Lion’s head officer’s sword with “faux” damascus blade, no swas so likely post-war. 7½” in overall length.

Please consult the pictures for condition details. A great set of miniature German edged weapons from the late / post war period, ready to research and display!
