Original Item. Only One Available. This is a very interesting large post-WWII military observation periscope complete with its original adjustable tripod and matching numbered carrying case. The periscope and case are both marked with serial number 1195, strongly indicating that they have remained together as an issued set. The periscope, tripod, and case all retain a similar military green finish and remain in good functional condition.
The periscope, tripod, and case and all painted the same shade of green, with the lid of the case being marked P / Nr. 1195. The securing strap for the case is broken but still works partially. The periscope itself retains the eye cover and is marked on the back under the eyecups:

The Cyrillic ПБУ marking is noteworthy and suggests Soviet or broader Eastern Bloc manufacture or designation, making it difficult to identify the instrument as definitively German-made without further markings. It may represent equipment manufactured elsewhere in the Warsaw Pact and subsequently issued or used in postwar German service.
The case itself measures 6 ½ x 7 ¾ x 33” when closed. It has canvas backpack straps but we would not recommend using them. When the periscope is set up with the tripod, it measures roughly 64” tall, but as the tripod can be adjusted and made longer, it has the potential to be much taller. The optics still work well enough.
This set is especially noteworthy for the combination of its matching serial-numbered periscope and carrying case, original adjustable tripod, surviving eye cover, complete military-green finish, and functional optics. The P38231 / ПБУ / 1195 markings provide an interesting avenue for further research into its precise Warsaw Pact or postwar German service history, while the matching case and tripod make it a notably complete Cold War-era observation set.
