Original German MG 34 / 42 Basket Belt Carriers with Belt & Feed Strip in 1943 Dated Transport Frame - Post War Painted

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Set Available. This is a fantastic and rare set of MG34/42 Basket Belt Carrier Drums, still in their original transport frame. During World War II, the MG 34 was superseded (although it remained in combat use) by a new GPMG - the MG 42. The MG 42 was more efficient to manufacture and more robust, and had a blistering 1,200rpm rate of fire. These used the same ammunition, belts, and basket belt carriers, which attached directly to the feed tray of the machine guns. One of the belt carriers is even still loaded with a 50 round belt and starter tab. This entire set is in fantastic condition and was repainted after the war when the guns were reused by other countries.

The Transport frame itself is marked with an Waffenamt inspection stamp, along with maker code and date 959 43. This is the early Zahlencode system for manufactures, and indicates 1943 manufacture by Felbeck & Picard of Solingen, a known maker of components for small arms magazines. It measures about 12" long, 5 3/4" wide, and 5 1/4" tall. The felt padding inserts are still present on the securing bar.

Both of the basket belt carriers show original Panzergrau gray blue paint under the post war apple green, so they are definitely WWII production. One is maker marked hqu 43, for 1943 manufacture by Markes & Co. KG, Lüdenscheid in Westfalen. They were a known maker of the MG34/42 magazines.

Once common, these are now very hard to find on the market, especially with German WWII markings. Complete your MG 34 or 42 display today!
