Original French WWI Model 1882 Infantry Officer’s Dress Sword & Scabbard by Châtellerault - Dated 1913

Original Item. Only One Available. This is a lovely example of the French M1882 Infantry Officer’s dress sword, manufactured in 1913 at the Châtellerault Arsenal.
The hilt is a lovely three-branched half-basket guard which clearly served as inspiration for the American M1902 Officer’s sword, which is still used to this day. The grip is wire-wrapped horn and is in great condition. The 35⅜” blade is in great condition and is double-edged with a single fuller in the center on both sides. The leather blade buffer is still intact, and the ricasso bears manufacturing markings for Châtellerault in 1913.
The steel scabbard is missing some of its finish, but is in fair condition overall without any serious denting. The single suspension ring is intact.
A lovely example of a scarce model of French sword, ready for further research and display.
