  • Original Items. Only One Lot Available. This is a nice pair of souvenir pieces made to appear like the French Adrian helmet. The Adrian helmet was an influential design of combat helmet originally produced for the French Army during World War I. Its original version, the M15, was the first standard helmet of the French Army and was designed when millions of French troops were engaged in trench warfare, and head wounds from the falling shrapnel generated by indirect fire became a frequent cause of battlefield casualties. Introduced in 1915, it was the first modern steel helmet and it served as the basic helmet of many armies well into the 1930s. Initially issued to infantry soldiers, in modified form they were also issued to cavalry and tank crews. A subsequent version, the M26, was used during World War II.

The first piece is an outstanding hand carved wooden Adrian helmet with fantastic panelwork, and an Infantry badge to the front. The piece opens up by removing the dome from the visors and could be used to store a myriad of things. It measures 5 x 4 x 3” and is in great shape. One of the most aesthetically pleasing pieces we’ve seen.

The second piece is a small Adrian helmet inkwell cover, but it is in severe disrepair. The front badge is gone, the shape is heavily warped, and the interior shows that the inkwell holder is crushed and will no longer hold an inkwell. Still a nice representative piece.

A great lot of Adrian helmet souvenir pieces, ready for display.
