Original French WWI Armored Corps Tanker NCO Uniform Tunic with Identification

Item Description

Original Item:Only One Available. Very scarce WWI French Armored Corps Non-Commissioned Officer’s Unform Coat. Constructed of Dark Blue Wool turnback style cuffs and found pleated pockets. The Coat has red felt collar tabs with silver bullion flaming bombs embroidered on each. On the sleeve are two gold chevrons, and in gold Bullion, the Crossed Cannons/Knight Helmetemblem of the French Armored Corps. The coat is fitted with Brass French Artillery Branch Buttons.

Of note is the Tailor label inside the right interior pocket which indicates that this coat was made by a London, England Tailor (Hills Brothers). The Label indicates that the coat was made in August, 1918 for Raymond T. Ross, Esquire, with “Paris 716/ P.G.Y. “ written below his name. This is quite a mystery in deed. Was this fellow a volunteer in the French Army? We are not certain, and will leave this excellent research material to someone down the line.

A very scarce piece, perfect for the collector of WWI-WWII Armored artifacts, French Militaria, or WWI in general. Certainly an opportunity to add something to the collection that most museums do not have!
