  • Original Items. Only One Lot of Two Available. This is a very interesting lot of two similar medals, one from France and one from Spain. The first is a French planchet of the Military Order of St. Louis, made from gold and enamel, and the second is a Spanish Royal and Military Order of Saint Ferdinand Mini Medal with the original ribbon.

The Order of St. Louis planchet is in good overall condition with some heavy cracking to the white enamel as shown. All four fleur-de-lis corner pieces are retained, rare to see, as is the ring, which is not stamped. There is some cracking in the blue enamel on one side. The planchet weighs 12.57 grams, but be advised that this will include the enamel as well, so we cannot speak to the exact gold contents of this example.

The miniature Military Order of Saint Ferdinand medal retains the red and yellow ribbon, and has good retention of the white enamel though there is cracking. We are unsure what parts of the medal are gold, but there is evidence showing that many of these were made of gold. The medal with the ribbon weighs 5.39 grams.

A fantastic lot of two very rare medals, ready for display!
