Original Item: Only One Available. A nice example of a Second French Empire (Napoleon III 1852 - 1870) enlisted infantry shako, perhaps around the time of the Crimean War, or war with Italy in 1860. The cardboard body displays a thin covering of black fur, with a yellowish worsted wool band at the top, and a black painted rigid top. There is a black thin leather panel to the reverse, black pressed leather visor and original cockade to the front of the shako. The six string frontal decoration is missing the central securing button and the chinstrap is absent. The interior of the shako is unlined with a wide Moroccan leather sweatband. Overall the shako is sound condition, with no major issues, beyond normal age and wear.
