Original French Napoleonic Era Grenadier Officer's Heavily Etched Saber circa 1810

Item Description

Original item: Only One Available. This is one of the most elegant of Swords, a majestical gilt brass hilt with an amazing Eagle head pommel and decorated single branch guard fully decorated, including a Palm tree. The longettes/chappes bear the Coat of Arms of the Officer, clearly an aristocrat. The gracefully curved 31 1/2" blade is covered in intricate faint etchings virtually the entire length on both sides. In the center of the right hand side the engraving includes a reference to GRENADIERS atop what appears to be a Regimental Coat of Arms with a "Flaming Bomb". There is also a manufacture mark on the spine of the blade just above the guard.

Many of the decorative elements found on this sword stem from Napoleon's time in Egypt and the Battles of THE NILE and LES PYRAMIDS. Romance is written all over it! The grip is checkered Ebony wood and is in excellent condition. We unfortunately did not find its Scabbard. This sword has come from long time storage and needs a complete cleaning and needs research to be carried out on it.

It is beautiful and a joy to behold. Not before seen by us anything like this quality. Ready to Display!
