Original Item: Only One Available: Here we have a nice but broken example of a Finnish Model 1928 Bayonet & Scabbard, which were used with the Finnish M/27 Mosin-Nagant rifle. This was the primary service rifle of Finland during the WWII period, and was the main rifle used during both the first "Winter War" and the later "Continuation War". This bayonet is identical to the M1927 bayonets, the only real difference being a “parade” like appearance; bright polish/finish and appealing grip scales which in this case is a lovely light colored Wood.
Unlike most that we have seen, it was made by Hackman & Co. Hackman was a cutlery and cookware company founded in Finland in 1790. The Hackman brand is now owned by Iittala Group, which was acquired by Fiskars Corporation in 2007.
The blade is in good condition, though it does show heavy wear and some oxidation staining. The hilt is in rough shape. The grip scales are in good shape with some denting and material loss. The locking mechanism is entirely absent on the bayonet. The scabbard is in very good shape, with minor dents and some finish wear.
A nice example, just missing the locking mechanism.
