Original English Percussion Saddle Ring Carbine Signed C. Maybury 1852

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. Made in England with British-proofed barrel this is a 20" barrel smooth bore carbine made for the East India Company. It was found in Nepal amongst our 2003 purchase of the Royal Nepalese Army Arsenal stored in the old Palace of Lagan Silikanna in Kathmandu. The old Palace was unfortunately totally destroyed in the earthquake of 2014.

This carbine has been stripped and fully cleaned, it was found to be marked with the Barrel maker's name JOHN CLIVE under the barrel. The weapon appears to have a large bore almost .75, which is somewhat unusual as these traditionally were .65 bore. Nepalese battalion markings on the bow of the trigger guard which could be further researched, perhaps even with the help of "GUNS OF THE GURKAS " by John Walter.
