  • Original item. Only One Available. This is a very early French flintlock pistol, featuring all iron mounts and a tang screw rising up from under the trigger guard. The early design lock has only a single screw behind the hammer and has no pan re-enforcement bridle on the frizzen. The lock features minimal engraving remaining with a faint maker's name on the lock plate tail in three lines.

The pistol's iron work, especially the eared butt cap, show lovely old patinated corrosion, giving it a lovely look. It features a 9 1/2" barrel in with a .50" bore and measures in 16 1/2" overall. The bottom of the stock is mounted with a large "bow" trigger guard with a lovely decorative finial. Two ribbed iron ramrod pipes hold the wooden ramrod in place.

The lock on the pistol parks wonderfully, though we rather feel the hammer itself is possibly a replacement dating to the French Revolution. The tumbler is a bit worn, so the lock does not hold at half cock.

A fine example of a very early French flintlock pistol, ready to research and display!
