Original Item: Only One Available. This is a heavily worn Pre-World War Two Dutch Officer visor cap. The wool body has some mothing as shown and the chinstrap is missing. There is also some chipping of the material on the visor. All of the gilded bullion piping and trim, as well as that of the rosette surrounded by the wreath, retain 90% of their original appealing glimmer. The colors are blue and yellow, but we are unsure what branch this represents.
Inside, the leather sweatband is intact, shows some field wear, and heavy loss of stitching. There is no maker’s mark or size we could find, but it’s roughly size 6 ¾.
The Royal Netherlands Army was mobilized throughout the conflict, as belligerents regularly attempted to intimidate the Netherlands and place demands on it. In addition to providing a credible deterrence, the army had to house refugees, guard internment camps for captured soldiers, and prevent smuggling. The government also restricted the free movement of people, monitored spies, and took other wartime measures.
