Original Danish WWI Model 1923 Steel Army Helmet with Helmet Badge
Original Item: One Only. The M/23 helmet was a combat helmet issued to Danish troops during the interwar period and saw service in the Second World War. It was the first helmet to be issued to Danish Defense forces and was produced locally by the company Glud and Marstrands Fabriker.
These unique style helmets have never been plentiful. They were used in the vain attempt by Denmark to hold back the Nazi invasion of 1940. Unfortunately, the Danes (along with most other Europeans at the time), presented little problem to the German Army, who rolled through Denmark and onto Norway.
This is an excellent example with original textured paint with substantial steel bowl construction with rolled edge, complete with full leather liner and chinstrap (broken). The most important aspect is the original WW2 helmet plate. Size is approximately 60cm US 7 1/2.
This is a scarce helmet of the WW2 era that saw service against the Nazi war machine.
