  • Original Items. Only One Lot Available. This is an outstanding set of recently-made contemporary models of two iconic tanks from the First World War. Both are well-made and painted, and will make excellent complements to your WWI Collection.

The first tank is a British Mk. V “Landship” tank, painted with a lovely green and orange camouflage pattern, and named “FANNY” on all three sides, with the designation 7A434F. The turrets to both sides still move horizontally, and the design is quite true to life. The treads do not function, and this is not meant to be a toy. It measures 9 ½ x 4 ½ x 3 ¼”.

The second tank is a French Saint-Chamond, the second French tank to enter service during the First World War, with 400 manufactured from April 1917 to July 1918. It takes its name from the commune of Saint-Chamond where its manufacturers Compagnie des forges et aciéries de la marine et d'Homécourt (FAMH) were based. This model is painted with a lovely camo scheme of green, gray, blue, and brown. The tank is very well-made but none of the gun barrels or treads move. It measures 11 x 4 x 2 ½”.

An excellent set of contemporary tanks, perfect for any WWI collection.

The tanks came to us from the American Armoured Foundation, Inc. Tank and Ordnance Memorial Museum. The AAF Tank Museum was a living memorial dedicated to the Tank and Cavalry soldiers of the world. Before 1981 some of the artifacts that make up the AAF Tank Museum was a private collection belonging to Mr. William Gasser. Mr. Gasser felt that his collection would be beneficial in educating present and future generations to the sacrifices made and the technologies gained during war. Therefore, in 1981 the AAF Tank Museum was established as a non-profit charitable organization, and Mr. Gasser's donated his private collection to the Tank Museum. Mr. Gasser is still active as Volunteer Director and Curator of the Tank Museum and his knowledge of military history has been a great asset to the museum. Unfortunately after 20 years of operation it had to close its doors, which is when these tanks were acquired.
