  • Original Item. Only One Available. This is a very scarce model of canteen, that there is nearly no reference to anywhere online. This canteen is often referred to as the KMT M1930 canteen, and is known to have been captured during the war and reissued to the Japanese Navy during World War II.

The canteen is of aluminum construction with a thin velvet cover that is tearing off on one side. The cover is affixed with six period snaps, several of which are now hanging or broken due to the tearing of the velvet cover. The canteen retains its original canvas carrying strap with a buckle that is now heavily oxidized. The strap at one end appears to have Chinese or Japanese characters stitched onto it. The canteen has an unscrewable aluminum cap with a stamped Chinese character on the top.

The canteen is extremely light and is in great shape overall for its age. This is the first example we’ve ever had and we aren’t sure when we will see another. Considering there are what look to be Japanese characters stitched onto the strap, this example may have been captured and reissued to the Japanese Navy.
